The chronologically structured lecture cycle in the first semester is intended to provide an overview of architectural historical epochs from Greek antiquity to the end of the Middle Ages.
The focus is on the typological view of buildings, i.e. the most important building types of an epoch are presented in exemplary fashion, their conditions of origin and historical tasks are explained, and their architectural form is examined according to ideal type and regional deviation.
Within the framework of this lecture, the most important terms of architectural terminology will also be explained and conveyed. The module concludes in the second semester with the examination "Cultural and Historical Foundations I" together with the Chair of Art History and the Chair of Architectural Theory.
