L | Typological Drawing

  Typological Drawing Copyright: © AGes

The lecture series Typological Drawing, one of the mandatory courses in the 3rd semester of the bachelor's programme, deepens the ability to use the act of drawing as a tool for the analysis of existing buildings both in terms of content and of method. During the individual lectures compositional tasks from architecture's past will be exemplarily sketched out and spatially analysed by practically drawing along.

The small-scale drawn representation of the built reality leads to an approach which graphically reduces the building's complexity down to its structure and its significant architectural elements. The selection of the examples examined follows both the contents of the other mandatory courses in architectural history and a couple of overriding themes such as scale, spatial arrangement, circulation, composition and detailing. Analytical ground plans and elevations will provide an insight into the techniques used by the architects during the design process.

The results will be summarized in a sketchbook, the quality of which will colour the grade for the final colloquium of the module.
