EM | Monastic architecture in the 20th and 21st centuries

Against this background, we will look at selected monastery buildings erected in the 20th and 21st centuries – the Dominican monastery of Sainte-Marie de La Tourette by Le Corbusier and the Cistercian monastery in Nový Dvůr by John Pawson are probably among the best known – and examine the extent to which they still reflect the rules of the order and building programmes that were often consolidated in the early days of the various orders.
