ST | Village and Country Town
During the "White Week", Prof. Thomas Gronegger will test methods of building documentation with students in Aachen as part of a research project on sustainable planning procedures in the countryside and in the urban context of "village and country town". In addition to the pure recording of the built substance, a "thoughtful contemplation" is aimed at, in order to expand the collected data already in the field by the levels of meaning.
Starting from Aachen's city center and from Haus Löwenstein along Pontstraße, important moments of orientation in the urban space will be recorded, drawn and interpreted.
This process of appropriating orientation will be extended by means of excursions deep into Aachen's surroundings. Finally, a critical look at the sprawling proliferation of built expansions of the urban settlement will help to uncover important places of orientation outside the center as well.
