St. Johannes in Merkstein by Emil Steffann - Preparation of the project documentation for publication

Within this research area, the results of the M2 project, which was carried out in the winter semester 2017/18 as well as the summer semester 2018 and aimed at the development of concepts for the further use, partial use or conversion of the church St. Johannes in Merkstein - built from 1961 to 1962 by the church builder Emil Steffann - are summarized in a comprehensive project documentation.

The M2 project included - prior to the design - the scientific documentation of the church building, which is of great architectural and historical importance. Among other things, a building survey was made and complementary records from different archives were evaluated.

The goal of this research field is on the one hand the sophisticated graphic processing and completion of the existing documents, on the other hand there is the possibility to contribute to the planned publication by writing an essay on a sub-area of the scientific documentation.

Experience in the conversion of construction survey drawings into print-ready documents and/or pleasure in the creation of layouts, plans, illustrations and graphics are helpful in this regard. The range of tasks will be determined in consultation with the participants according to their inclinations.
